Writing Prompt - January 2026

January is the month of Janus, named for the Roman god of beginnings / endings and transitions. Depicted with two faces, he looks both to the future and the past. There is always some retrospection at the beginning of new things. As you embark on the first month of a new year, take the lessons of the past with you to promote meaningful growth. The difficulties you encountered can be building blocks rather than repeated obstacles.

I am my own harshest critic, with a tendency to beat myself down during projects and rehash past struggles. It can be difficult to balance giving yourself grace vs. procrastination when you live in such a mindset. We all work with the tools we have.

May you enter 2026 with vigor and celebrate International Creativity Month with renewed focus, passion, and confidence. Happy New Year, everyone!
